MELODY GRAHAM FLORES
Art and Expressive Arts Therapy, Psychology, and Conflict Resolution
DWHEAT Candidate for Art and Expressive Arts Therapy.
Welcome home to your creative and curious self. Emotions can be hard to put into words, and that’s where Art and Expressive Arts Therapy can help. Adding ways to communicate other than just talking (like drawing, painting, music, writing, movement, and more) encourages us to explore and express our inner world. In Art and Expressive Arts Therapy, it is less about the product we create, and more about the process of creating. This creative process — this alternative experience of the world — can support self-understanding, resilience, and thriving.
Melody is a DWHEAT Candidate for Art and Expressive Arts Therapy and has a BA in Psychology and Conflict Resolution. She has 9+ years of experience in various helping profession positions such as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker, a Direct Support Professional, and a volunteer with hospital patients and seniors. She has practiced Art and Expressive Arts Therapy with adults who have experienced childhood trauma, the short- and long-term grieving process, and navigating through challenging life transitions.
Melody supports help-seekers through many different areas of life, such as depression, anxiety, traumatic events, relationship dynamics, setting boundaries, exploring self-identity, practicing self-compassion, embracing neurodivergence, and building internal and external resources for holistic wellness. She is a supportive guide as you explore and express whatever you feel needs to come forward for you at the present moment in your healing journey. Working from approaches that are strengths-based, trauma-informed, and person-centred, Melody safely holds the space, follows your lead, and offers you creative invitations as an agent for constructive change.
